
John and Nora raised their family in North Cowichan.
John holds a Master’s Degree in Business from Royal Roads University and is an accredited Chartered Director professional in corporate governance from The Directors College at McMaster University, DeGroote School of Business sponsored by The Conference Board of Canada.
John is a business consultant with a strong background in community service. He has over 20 years of senior executive management and corporate board director experience and served on North Cowichan council for 2 consecutive terms. He also chaired the Economic Development Committee for 6 consecutive years. Mr. Koury was a board director with Toronto based Canadian Society of Immigration Consultants as corporate secretary for the national regulatory body. Prior to owning retail franchises in Victoria and Nanaimo, he was the General Manager of Logistics Operations and member of the corporate advisory board for the Forzani Group Ltd. at the corporate head office in Calgary prior to its merger with Canadian Tire.
John was born in Fort Saint John in 1964. He is married to lifelong partner for over 40 years, Nora Koury, a 25 year RN with Island Health at CDH. Together they lived in the Cowichan Valley for over 30 years and raised two sons in the Properties of North Cowichan. The Koury’s currently live on their acreage property in Lake Cowichan since last May until their new home is built on property they own in Maple Bay on Genoa Bay Road.
